Snow is not a word that comes to mind when people think of Morocco. More often people’s first thoughts are images of sand, palm trees and camels. But do not let that mislead you. During winter the Atlas mountains become covered with snow. City dwellers drive up to the mountains to go sledding, skiing, snowboarding, or just to enjoy the beauty of the snow. From the top of the ski lift of Oukaïmeden, at 3275 metres above sea level, it is hard to believe that you are in subtropical Africa.
